Default parts car

Hey all,

What is the most that you would pay for a parts car in fair condition? I know this is a general question but I'd like to get a feel for what you all think.

I have an 87 240 currently. Are internal and external parts compatible for all 240s from say, the years between 1984-1993? An 87 would be the perfect parts car fit, but I'd like to expand my options if possible. Thank you

headlights changed in 86. fuel injection and ignition systems changed in 89. other than that, only very minor incremental changes year to year.

350 maybe 400. there is a parts car for sale nearby here for 700 but it has sat unsold on that price for months...

1991 VOLVO 240 Sedan Auto. Parts Car or Fix

sometimes you can get a running registerable car for under 1000... but they are getting rare now.

around here in the northeast, no one will pay for a junk car. the recyclers will tow them away free but no more. if you can manage to drive the car into a junkyard they might give you $75

I was thinking no more than 400 too. I picked up a solid 87 240 a few weeks ago for $800. Had recent tune up, brand new tires all the way around, and a new battery. A little rough around the edges but a very solid, dependable car. Been driving it for 2 weeks with no issues

To donate to an '87, you should get an '87 to '93... Depending on the condition, rust, engine/tranny condition, you should be able to get one for $100-200, depending on the area; many a driveway hold a junky 240.

well good on ya. the tires and battery alone would be over half the price!
can you say what part of the country you are in for reference?

The wife wasn't too thrilled but the tank is growing on her! I'm in NY, so lots of snow/salt. I suspect the car was not a main driver since it only has 145k on the clock and the undercarriage is not rusted out

That red sedan has been up for almost a year now, no price drop or new pictures. But good parts cars have been turning up lately.
