Default Really wierd shifting problem!!!

hey guys, Im having problems with my trans shifting.
Here is the problem. The very first shift after the car has sat will not happen until 35-42 mph. This is really scary because the little 2.4L is screaming at this speed in 1st gear. After the first shift it is fine. I can come to a stop and it will drop back down into 1st and then when i take off it will shift normally (like 15 mph) into second and so on. Its just that first shift after it sits for a little bit. What is wrong?

HOW DO I FIX?

It is a '92 240 wagon. (auto of course)

My first action would be to drain, flush and refill the transmission fluid, including replacing the filter.
It doesn't sound like too bad a fault.

Regards, Andrew.

IPD sells a hose that will power flush the transmission as opposed to just draining the fluid. They also sell the filter and gasket. I know for my 940 both were under $40.00. Check them out.

Hey guys. I drove my car about 200 miles today to get back to school and when i got here i decided to check the trans fluid. The car was warm and just shut off less than a minute ago. I pulled the dip stick and checked 4 times and each time i got a reading about 5mm above the black plasitic "reader" This tells me there is to much fluid in the trans. Could this be the problem.

Typhoon: I changed the trans fluid and filter over winter break (Christmas) when i replaced the kickdown cable and the fluid is stiill red and unburned.

What are your thoughts?
