Default swap seats from '86 into '93

Can the front seats from a 1986 744 be put into a 1992 944...without much fuss?

all 7xx and 9xx front seats have the same bolt pattern on the floor. power wiring connectors for power seats and/or heated seats changes by year and model, as does the seat belt attachment points, but you can swap the seat belt stuff from the original seats onto the new ones, ditto the side panel trim bits, and its not hard to swap the power wiring around.

Good to know if I find some good 900 seats, but wouldn't the side-controls and such have trouble fitting into a more narrow 240?

240 seats are on a completely different bolt pattern, and wouldn't fit at all well on a 7/9 nor visa versa. the OP said 86 740 and 93 940...

Got yah, my bad.

If I were the OP I'd swap as much stuff from the 940s interior as I can, seems like they were a little more solid from what I've read.

The 944 was owned by my youngest boy for about 18 months and he's kinda messy in a car. And when we did the heater core on that car he wasn't too picky about putting back the dash and what not...so the interior is kinda trashed.

I've heard it said that mechanics often drive a hoopty and that applies to me except for the mechanic part. I am the last owner a car will have before it's junked. That being said I don't really care for the black leather seats in the 944 that has no AC...and a 744 with pretty good cloth seats is at the local pnp.

It seems like i get better search results off of this forum and i found a 3 year old thread here that answered my question...hat tip to lev.
