Volvo 240 - Steering Automatic Transmission Fluid
Hi all,
I just signed up and thanks for accepting me into this forum.
I have been driving my Volvo 240 around for quite awhile without realising the power steering fluidreservoir was way below the minimum mark. After refilling the reservoir with ATF lubricant to the required level, some friction noise still exist.Does this denotes a serious damage to the steering system has occured?

RE: Volvo 240 - Steering Automatic Transmission Fluid
You need to drain and refill the system. ATF is Automatic Transmission Fluid. It is to provide lubrication for the internal parts of the transmission. Power Steering Fluid is a hydraulic fluid that is used to assist the power steering system. I don't know whether you have done any damage yet but if you don't change the fluids you most likely will.
