Hello everyone,
I have had a 1993 Volvo 965 for about 2 months and I love it. It has around 220,000 miles and has been great to me. Recently however, I was shifting out of park to drive and it felt like I was in neutral and then something (felt like rear diff) clunked and then I started moving. After that happened, I got the flashing up arrow and my speedometer works intermittently: shooting up at times, and then staying at 0 MPH. Additionally, my transmission was rougher than usual, starting off in second and being very slow to shift. I pulled the codes and I got that the PNP switch error and the speedometer sensor error. My question is: do I need to replace both? I've been reading on the issue and they say that you may need to replace the instrument panel, or the transmission speed sensor needs fixed. I was trying to be as thorough as I could in describing my issues, but I won't be able to see my car until the weekend because I'm in university right now.

Mine did that sky is falling arrow thing and started stupid stuff with the trans.All of the trans lights were winking as well.Started in 2nd and wouldn't kick down. A trans shop connected their diagnostic computer to it and it was caused by the winter/summer/ econo buttons losing their memory. They reset it and it has not reoccurred.I'm told the switch can do that if it gets soaked in oil and cleaning sometimes works Incidently ebay have OBD2 diagnostic hardware from Hong Kong for a 960 and a few other euro trash cars for $13 odd. Don't scoff, I gambled bought one and it worked after I got an adapter cable.A CD comes with it and downloads into a laptop in seconds. The outfit is still in biz cos they're still sending me spam.
