Default Cam Sensor and Crankshaft Sensor Question

I have a 97 Volvo 850. Cannot get any fire from the Ignition Coil. My question is how do I test whether the Cam Sensor or the Crankshaft Sensor are causing the problem?

Please provide detailed info if possible. Thanks

cel = check engine light. if your light isnt on, its either burned out (which you would know because it didnt come on briefly when you start the car) or you have no codes.

provided you arent in cali, any advance auto parts or autozone should be able to pull codes for you for free.

This may sound stupid! I took the coil and put it in the freezer for 20 minutes then reinstalled. The car started perfectly.Idid this due to another post I read about an 850 that would start when cold but would not restart when warmed up.My guess is,the coil is bad.

Impressed! Did you ohm ck the coil before/after the deep freeze? BTW: you wouldn't pull our leg(s) would you?

yes, i checked the ohm before freezing. it was 0.8 ohm on a 200 scale. however, i did not bother to check after freezing. just hooked up and started. then i went for drive.

no problems since doing this. sounds crazy but was worth the shot.
