Default Fast Idle Stuck

It seems as if my fast idle is stuck, the car idles at 1500 rpm when hot. I replaced all the vac lines when I did the PCV cleaning, is it possible this could cause a fast idle, maybe a line was leaking before and the computer was set to compensate for it? Any other things that can cause this?

Did you try removing the battery for a while and then retraining idle?

The negative terminal was undone while I was cleaning everything, but I will try it again and I'll reset the codes also.

Is your CEL/Lambda light on? Triple check the hoses for leaks.

No lights, everything seems normal. I triple checked all the connections before driving it, but I will do it again as something might have worked loose. What vacuum lines would control idle speeed? The only other thing I can think of is maybe I accidentally switched electrical connectors when putting everything back, but it seems as if each one is different so I don't know if that's even possible.

I can see that the electrical gremlins in this car are going to drive me crazy! I pulled the codes today, and came up with 2-3-3 idle valve closing signal. So I cleared the codes, all seemed well, started the car it idled at 900rpm. Went to the store, put it in park and it was idling at 1500rpm again. Came out about 30 minutes later, started it and it idled at 900rpm. Got home put it in park and it was at 1500rpm! So it seems as if it's backwards, like it's thinking it's hot when it's cold and cold when it's hot. Any suggestions??

Try some contact cleaner on the idle valve connector. Wiggle the cable to see if you accidentally ruined the connector when you were doing the PCV.

I checked the connector for the idle valve, and it looked fine. So did the vacuum lines. I pulled the codes again and got the 2-3-3 code again. Cleared the codes, sprayed a little lube in the idle valve and started it to see what happens. Started out at 1,500rpm, dropped immediately to 900rpm, and gradually over about 5 minutes the rpm's slowly rose to almost 1,500 rpm. What exactly does the 2-3-3 code entail? Does it mean the idle valve is possibly defective, or can it mean that it's recieving a wrong signal from a temp sensor? If the sensor is a possibility, which one controls this valve, and why isn't the computer detecting that the sensor is faulty?

Get this file http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/dow.../Volvo_850.zip

Inside that there is a pdf called tests with codes turbo.pdf. Check out the section on 2-3-3

Thanks for the info on the codes. I will take the IAC valve off tomorrow and see if I can somehow clean it out, because it sounds like the valve is definitely the problem. Any tips on how to clean it out?
