Default Grinding noise behind headlight & PCV Idea

1995 850 turbo

when I turn the key to the "ON" position even without starting the car, there is a grinding noise from behind / under ??? the pass. side headlight. What is this? It can be heard when the car is started also.

Also, has anyone ever tried to bypass the PCV system by re-routing any part of it of by trying to actually retrofit a PCV valve or is this just crazy thinking? Just curious because I spoke with my mechanic today and he said he has successfully re-routed the hose coming out of the front of the valve cover to a vacuum port in the breather box. He said he's done this on several cars and has had no problems whatsoever. He said everything runs back through the intake and any particles are burned just like a regular PCV system.

This might be a long shot, but does your car have the winter package with headlight wipers? If so, it could be that the motor is shorted out and trying to come on when the car is started. Ok, I warned you it was a long shot.........

Yes it does have wipers but I'm pretty sure they work properly. It is a good idea and I will check into it with the help of an assistant turning on the washers. Thanks.

1.Sounds like stated above that the wiper motor is bad.
2.Never tried but not sure if it would work.

I double checked the wiper and it was stuck under a small black plastic rest or brace, repositioned it and the noise is gone, thank you!

I unplugged both on my R so this way they won't go bad and mess up.
To me that is the cheapest and easiest fix.
