Default Knock sensor diagram

Does anyone have a picture or service manual drawing of the location of the knock sensors? I have been gettting an intermittant Check engine light with the associated code of P0326 which I believe is the front or #1 knock sensor,

Many thanks,

Glenn

Check this link which will give you some information.
I personally have never taken the fuel rail out of the manifold. So you can skip that part if you wish to.

Is there any way to get to the sensors without taking the manifold off? I would rather not screw with that unless I have to. Thanks for the great link

I dont think so but this might be possible on n/a models but turbo is already tight in terms of accebility in that area. I would suggest checking all the connectors and tie them using some cable ties and that might halp if there is a bad or loose connection dues to engine viberations. It aorked for me on my turbo and have not seen the codes since last 3 months. It used to show up every once a week.

If you have sticks for arms maybe you can get to them. I always pull the intake.

I was getting intermittant knock sensor signal absent codes on my '94 850 Turbo. I managed to fix it by unplugging and plugging the connector a couple of dozen times and then smearing dielectric grease into the connector.

I think I was able to reach the rear KS from underneath the intake manifold without taking it off. I took off the cooling fan and shroud and it gave me just enough room to reach it from the top.

I can't remember if I did the same thing with the front sensor, but I think I was able to get to it too.

It was giant PITA to get the connector reconnected with the little wire clip, because at that point I hadn't realized that you don't actually need to remove the little wire clip to separate connectors yet.

Something I've never seen posted anywhere or mentioned, is that you just push down on them and then you can pull the connector apart.

I believe later models have the knock sensors hardwired to a harness and the connector is someplace easier to get access to.

If you're going to replace the sensors, then I don't think there's anyway you can avoid pulling the intake manifold.

Default Knock sensor

Hi all,

the last link posted here shows that you only have to take off the fan shroud to access the knock sensors and not pull the manifold off at all, is this true for a 94 850 turbo?

Im confused?
