RE: Brakes
Hello VD,
Here's a copy & paste from the following thread:

BRAKES:
Brakes on 850 are straightforward, here's the parts you'll need:
GENERAL:
*1. DOT-4 Fluid (I used ATE's Super Blue Racing).
2. Silicone-based grease or CV-joint grease for anti-squeak purpose.
3. A can or 2 of brake cleaner spray.
4. Large C-clamp, 10WR Vise-grip or piston pushback tool to push back the piston.
5. Sandpaper to clean rusty spots (use oil/WD-40 for sanding).
*I used Motive Product's One-person bleeder and flushed the system by myself. Available at FCP Groton/Motive Products.
FRONT:
1. New rotors (Zimmermann, ATE, Brembo or any OEM).
2. New pads (Genuine Volvo, Textar (OEM) orany high-quality ceramic pads).
3. Synthetic grease for slider pins (The pins are hex (allen) bolts).
4. New caliper bracket bolts.
5. Bungee cord to hang the caliper.
*If calipers look too worn, you may want to buy rebuilt calipers loaded with OEM pads.
REAR:
1. Rotor (same as above)
2. Pads (same as above, I used Roulands-Dan Block OEM pads)
3. New caliper bolts.
4. New hardware (Retainer springs & pins by Scan-tech Sweden).
5. New shims (half-size shims are highly recommended to stop squeak & low-tone drone).
Most of the parts can be bought at:
http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo850brakes.htm
I hope this helps. Make sure to keep safety in mind.

RE: Brakes
Parts Train is cheaper, but some of the descriptions are kind of confusing...
Try eEuroParts too...I hear they price match, but i'm not sure.
And what do you mean by "replacing your brakes"? Pads? Rotors? Caliper?
Pads - Mintex are cheap. Mintex in front and OEM rear or just Mintex/Mintex.
Rotors - Brembo (No diff, but its cool to have the brand).
Caliper -any

RE: Brakes
Any time I have tried anything but OEM pads, my brakes squeal. I can't stand squealing brakes, so I use nothing but OEM pads. I also have dirty wheels because of brake dust, but that's the price I pay for being able to stop and not listen to squealing brakes. Tech says OEM too.
