Default 850 wagon rooftop carrier

Hi all! got a 95 850 wagon with the front to back roof rails, looking for suggestions on how to actually use them. They look good, but dont seem to be real functional. I'd like to find one of those big basket things, but they require cross rails. What do you wagon folks typically rig up? Dave

OK, got it.

I was hoping I could get one of those big basket carrier things (about $170) that attached directly to the rails without getting an additional $150 set of cross rails. The seperate cross rail sets seem kinda redundant. Well not really redundant, just an extra stack up of components- That dont really match the side rails. you know what I mean?

I've got one of those top of the car bag things but they really are designed for cross rails too.

Yeah, I've got big problems over here... Dave

Years back when I got my wagon I went with Thule crossbars, but others work about the same. I think Thule might have more options for you down the road. I have three crossbars. This enable me to alter my road/mtm bikes plus offers great support for my tandem bike. In the gap (hope you can see) I have a Thule cargo box for long trips. The gap also servers to hold lumber for my home construction projects that I haul home from Lowes or Home Depot.
