I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like the head gasket went again. When did you have it done last? Also, how long was it overheating?

The real question should be how did you overheat it?

i was driving to the pick and pull - its 60 miles away
and it just needled in red i pulled over and popped the hood and the bottle was dumping all the coolant- so i let it cool down and refilled with coolant - i tested the thermostat and it works - new coolant lines - i think the timing is out- but i dont have the cam tool or any way to make one so i can fix it- i was told it is the timing being off
i wonder if not having a heater core is causing this too
i will try it again later today- but im getting a lot of steam in the oil but no back pressure in crank no bubbles in coolant from exhaust
im pretty sure its the head gasket - or at worst a cracked cylinder- but i cant tell-
there are no leaks externally- this will be a terrible thing if the cylinder is cracked
i dont know what to do - im so angry and im very upset that i put all my money into it and now this
before i junk it - do you have any advice

just checked the lower crankshaft timing mark - its off by 1 tooth time to pull timing belt and do it again but i don't think it'll do any good now when i pull the cam end off and redo the head gasket ( if i decide to) this time ill buy some metal dye and spray it in the cyls and look for cracks - its really good for showing them
as is for sale or swap for--------- volvo850 turbo wagon -black or red

Pressure building up in the bottle after it runs for a few minutes?
Alot of coolant in the oil?
Loosing coolant?
Was it a new thermostat?

answers to questions yes on pressure build up
not a lot of coolant but its there /steamy exhaust
yes im loosing coolant it boils out of the bottle
brand new thermostat tested and it opens wide
i set the timing to TDC ON THE TOP CAMS
CRANK MARK IS OFF BY ABOUT 1/2 INCH
i think i found out what the problem is "TIMING"
AM I GOING TO HAVE TO PULL THE TOP END ANYWAY AND DO A NEW HEAD GASKET?

But being off one or so teeth should not make it overheat like that.
There is something else wrong.
