Default Cold Air intake or K&N/ High Flow filter?

Hey guys so I had a matter of opinion/ better performance question..

So on IPD i could buy a true cold air intake with a high flow K&N or just keep the stock air box and use a flow K&N filter or something comparable. what would be best? I was wondering which would be better for performance and gas mileage as well as performance. I know cold air would be better for horsepower gain. but would the cold air be bad for gas mileage? I'm sure either if i step on it with my 1994 850 turbo would burn more fuel but non the less which would be better?

There's a very comparable intake on ebay for a decent amount as the IPD one would cost me over 200$ US have to have it come to Canada.

Thanks in advance

1. The one on EBAY is crap.

2. I am not saying that the IPD USA and EuroSportTuning (EST) intake systems are that much better. However both of them provide better heat shielding then the EBAY intake.

*The IPD USA and EST intakes are actually SHORT RAM INTAKES, they are not Cold Air Intakes.

3. I suggest you creat your own. I am sure you could do this for half the price.

Well, the thing with these intakes is that you are making the engine and the turbo not work as hard to get all the air you need. What you can do is just get the K&N Drop in filters and just cut particular portions of the bottom half of your airbox out. This is what I did and what it does is it allows you to draw air from a much bigger area insted of a puney little square hole.

well i dont know about cutting a hole on the air box. Volvo did a real good job when they made the air box for this cars just get a K&N drop panel.Unless you are looking on geting the sound of an open element filter.thats pretty much the only gain you going to see.
