Default MY C70 UPGRADES

ok, sosome of you know what my C70 looked like when i got it

so i purchased some 18x7.5 rims from wheelmax last week

but, as you guys will learn about me, i just can't leave anything alone, or drive what everbody else is driving or have the sameexact style asanother person, so i changedthe look of these wheels a little bit.

first, i masked off the the important areas i didn't wanted painted like the polished lip and the simulation 3 piece rim bolts and tires. this kept alot of overspray from getting everywhere.

after ruffing up the surface with some 400 grit or a red scotch bright, you will then wipe the sanding dust off with laquer thinner and spray your base coat. i used krylon X-coat base coat.

next is to lay down your color of choice, i always wanted some rims that were Volk racing gold and this is the closest i could get to it which duplicolor makes. i put down 3 thin coats and one heavy coat for each rim letting each coat dry like 30 mins. then added 3 coats of 500* engine enamel clear.

with an x-acto knife carefully peel the tape off the very detail parts of your wheel (and if your smart get some simple wheels to do this to cause GOD made your fingers to fit perfectly in your nose, but hard to get into some areas of these rims

some of you may think i'm a "ricer" and your right, but i add tasteful style and performance to everything i own. you won't see a pep boys muffler on my car or a "park bench" spoiler, but i will make my C70 stand out and perform as much as i can. hope you like this project log, look for my suspension upgrade and my brake painting here in this thread (cause my brakes are really rusty)

Man those look nice. Great job on that.

Personally I would have liked to see what they looked like on the car before you painted them and then afterwards.

But they are very nice. There aren't a lot of people in the Volvo world that do gold rims and I think they look great on Volvo's. I saw one Volvo with like Bronzed Volans which were absolutely stunning.

Great work, keep it up. What will you be painting your calipers as?

thanksS70, that means alot to me. the only problem i had with putting them on the car when they were black is the fact that it's the fad now. everybody and every thing driving has black wheels. i might have been too lazy to take them off once they were on, so i just did them up.

i plan on going with red caliper paint, unless i see a color that is really "out there" like safety red which almost glows in the day or night.

I would get as close to your OEM paint color as possible. It will look real nice behind the gold rims.

What are you talking about? Red and Gold go well together and in this case very well together.

Some slotted/x-drilled rotors would look sweet behind those rims. However to do it right you would need to purchase a BBK. Because stock size rotors are small an BBK would fill in the space and look absolutely sweet.

no problem bro, it's your right to have an opinion. i wish i could have had the wheels anodized gold, but not too many places do anodizing. thanks for your input though.

wow a BBK would take some time to aquire S70, but i see what you mean. i would just wait til i get some real power working on this buggy before i get a BBK. some rotors would do ok for now though.

Save your money for a BBK. Don't waste it on some x-drilled or slotted or x-drilled/slotted rotors now. Just save your money. You will be pleased if you do.

Do your go fas parts first then a BBK.

Nice job customizing the new wheels and your car looks sharp. How's it handle with the lower profiles?

well, more like a beautification mod

yesterday i painted my brakes with the duplicolor brush-on paint system. i'm very happy with how easy the paint is to apply and how nice it looks which is easy to mistake aspowder coat. while i was in there i inspected my brake pads to check for life remaining. the pics aren't great, but i hope you get the idea.

now all i need is to lower this bad boy and start adding some punch to the engine. i also need to replace all broken interior parts and get everythin working as i should.

I was suggesting the Porsche BBK which EuroSportTuning (EST sells). Or the WP Pro sold by Viva Performance.
