Default Vinegar Smell from Air Conditioner

Hi all -
The little annoyances of this car are starting to irritate me. First, couldn't reset/erase messages after car was serviced. The dealer didn't reset it right, finally had to get it reset on next service. They couldn't find the "rattle" sound I had pointed out and attached "rattle tape" to the inside trunk cover. A few months later, the rattle getting much worse, and my husband finally acknowledging it and bringing it to the dealer, it was determined to be the sway bar! The nuts were so loose they were almost falling off!

Now, I have a Vinegar Smell coming from the Air Conditioner. It's more of a "sweet" smell than a musty smell. Any ideas? Summer is coming and in Las Vegas, no Air Conditioning would NOT be good. I'd like some solid ideas before I take it to the dealer.

I have a 2010 C70. Thanks in advance!

Sweet smell from the vents sounds like antifreeze, which could be from a leaky hose or a leak in the heater core. Does is smell worse when you use the heater? or is it the same potency all the time? Check you coolant level and see if it's low, if it is, buy some antifreeze and smell it when you add it so you can compare that smell to the one in the car.

Sounds to me like it was the heater core. Mine needs to be re-done in my Rover. My 98 C70 has odor coming from the vents when I run the AC as well. But to be honest it smells more like a musty urine smell... Could I spray a can of Lysol directly through the cabin air filter port under the front shrowd? I did a similar proceedure with my Rover and it worked wonders.

Default musty smell

at the dealership we have a special machine that we run inside the car to get rid of musty odor. its is commonly caused by build up of water inside the evaporator case, becoming stagnant and causing mold to grow. there are many different odors that can come from your vents. also try replacing the cabin air filter
