2000 S40 failed inspection with P0234, P0172, P0101, and P0130 codes
I took my 2000 s40 in for inspection today and it failed. The diagnostic codes they gave me were as follows-
P0234- Turbo/ Super Charger Overboost Condition
P0172- System too rich
P0101- Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/ Performance Problem
P0130- O2 Sensor Circuit
How much would it cost me to get all these fixed?:con fused:

Sometimes a single malfunctioning part can cause multiple trouble codes. You have several options depending on your skill level and where you live. If you like DIY then pick up a code reader from the nearest Harbor Freight (lowest cost) or the local auto parts house. Erase the codes then drive the car normally to see if the check engine light returns. If yes, then use the code reader to read the trouble codes. My guess (and please don't spend money on my guess) its the MAF sensor. The "too rich" and "O2 sensor" and "overboost" are probably related to the MAF giving bad input.
You next option is a good independent Volvo specialist with a DiCE tool and VADIS subscription. The DiCE can read the sensor inputs and show you via VADIS. The most costly is the dealer. The dealer will have a DiCE tool and VADIS subscription. You will pay dearly for its use.
