2000 S40 Motor Mounts
Hi all!
A couple of days back I started hearing a clunk low on the driver's side when going over bumps at low speed. Initially I thought ball joint, tie rod end, sway bar bushing or link... but after an inspection the front driver's side engine mount (the lower mount, not the hydraulic one) is broken. Not just worn out, but actually cracked and broken.
I'm planning to replace both the engine mounts that ride on the front-to-rear crossmember tomorrow after parts come in. Has anyone done this? It looks easy enough, but is there anything to watch out for?
Thanks!

If you are talking about the lower crossmember mounts, I did this over the weekend with poly inserts. I've been logging my adventure with custom sleeves and inserts on 30forty50 but straight replacement of the oem mounts should be cake. Here is my album of my adventure, it probably has some valuable images.

There is a heat shield probably protecting the rear mount, it's 10mm, 2 screws.
Remove through bolts (14mm on the bolt, 15mm on the nut, 35 Nm on re-assembly)
Remove crossmember (17 mm , 66 or 69 Nm on re-assembly, don't remember exactly)
Remove mounts on the crossmember (not sure, 55 Nm on re-assembly)
On reassembly I got the bolts through the mounts, then put in the crossmember bolts and tightened them down, then I torqued down the bolts through the mounts.
Good luck.
