Exclamation 2000 Volvo S&V40 Tire Bolts.

I changed my timing belt last month and had to remove the front passenger side wheel, I read to torque the tire lug nuts to 64 ftlbs when putting the tire back on. Well today I was driving and the car felt very bumpy and I was hearing a ratteling sound, pulled over to find the tire almost off and 1 of the 4 lug nuts missing and the other 3 almost off! Now 64ftlbs can't be right so what is the torque you recommend? Don't want this happening again.

For the S/V 40's I think the recommendation is ~95 ft/lb. And if you have alloy wheels you should retorque them after a week or so.

My 2000's owners manual states 81 ft/lb = 110 nt/m. I tend to use 90-100 just the same as Livens suggests. Also its recommended to cross tighten and recheck after a short test drive...

Hope you do timing belts better than you do lug nuts.

Ha I was telling myself how can I change a timing belt but I can't tighten lug nuts, I found the rear tire also had very loose nuts too and I realized that the two tires on the passenger side facing the street I parallel park on had the bolts loosened, while the driver side wheels faceing my house where tight. Think someone was trying to do a evil prank.
