I am having the same issue on my 2001 V70. I unplugged the AC control unit without unhooking the battery terminal first, and that triggered the message "SRS AIRBAG SERVICE - URGENT". Took the car to my dealer and they were going to charge me $75 just to reset it.

i have been looking on ebay for a SRS diagnostic tool as well.

found this scanner
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Fast-VOLVO-2011D-VIDA-DICE-Diagnostic-OBD2-Scanner-Tool-Latest-Version-/320926750211?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D1 11000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26m eid%3D1393056818660494920%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1 006%26rk%3D1%26

Anyone know if that scanner would be able to clear the SRS codes?

The only thing that worked for me was a replacement SRS computer from a junked S40. The good news is the SRS computer is very easy to replace. It's located under the center console about where your right elbow would be on a left-hand drive car (under the storage box area).

Also, if you want a DICE scanner get it from the manufacturer in China:
2012 newest car scanner tool volvo vida dice-in Code Readers & Scan Tools from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com

Mine arrived in perfect shape ready to work with VIDA on a Windows XP Pro laptop.

It's important to note the DICE scanner is for use with VIDA software. And VIDA has been known to give people problems as it's made for dealers and not for the general public. I have 2010A and after installing/uninstalling several times I finally tried a different patch file which worked for me with Windows XP Pro. The newest versions of VIDA are supposed to work with Windows 7 Pro but I've yet to hear of a successful install in other than XP Pro.

That was actually going to be my next question.
I have Windows 7 pro on my laptop. Hopefully I won't have too much trouble getting it to work.

I have a 1999 volvo s80. Been having issues with battery going dead with key on (which turns on daylight running lights) and operating wipers (I replaced headlight assembly and needed to reset haedlight wipers to the home position after removing them). Battery went dead and srs message came up on dash. Trying to reset message and wondering if that is common on the volvo for battery to go dead so quickly (haven't been to check it at a parts store yet)...? Location is Spokane, WA.

Default VIDA scanner

just wanted to let you all know that i got the scanner in and installed it on my laptop.
i did have to install a different version of my operating system, but i got it working for Windows 7.

played around with the scanner for a while and was able to clear the code just fine.

Thanks Hudini for suggesting where to buy it.
ordered it and it shipped here (USA, Kansas) from Hong Kong in just 3 days.

It's amazingly fast. The funny thing is I'm sitting here in Shanghai and I have to order it to be sent to my house in Tennessee or pay a hefty tax. Go figure.

Can you go into more detail on VIDA? Which version? Also which Windows 7 version? Did you need to get a different patch file than what was supplied? Just trying to figure out whether to upgrade my standard Windows 7 to the Pro version here in China.

Default VIDA details

Originally i had Windows 7 64-bit, but it didnt work, so i had to re-install windows.

You have to have Windows 7 SP1 32-bit for it to work on windows 7

Also i did not have to use a different patch file. I just put the CD in and ran the install file.
The software that came with it was VIDA 2011A
