2002 S40 1.9L Turbo - Replacing the two O2 sensors...
#2
Matco and snap on make an o2 sensor socket. I borrowed one from a mechanic friend but harbor freight sells the same one. There are two types, the older style expands too much when using it. If you can't get the tool cut the o2 sensor wires and use a regular socket.

That works great.

If you can't find a crows foot like they sell at HF you can make your own. Use an old 3/8 box end wrench and cut a slot wide enough to get the wires through with a hacksaw. I've made a few of these for getting transmission lines off.
BTW, are you replacing them because of a check engine light?

Thanks guys. My buddy is coming down with a socket and tools he modified to do his Mitzu so I should be good for the sensors I hope.
I am replacing them partially because of the engine light and codes for the evaporative emissions system, but also because the car is running really lean on fuel and has starting/idling issues when the engine is cold. I am about to see if the car has a self-diagnostic module installed, and I am going to check/clean the throttle body and related components.
