Exclamation 2005 S40 CD player stuck at "Ejecting CD"

Hello!

My wife's recently purchased 2005 Volvo S40 T4 AWD has a problem that neither of us noticed prior to purchasing. We tried inserting pressing the CD button, all we get is this message with recurring mechanical sounds like it's trying to eject something:

Name: volvoproblem.jpg
Views: 7958
Size: 25.8 KB

As far as we can see, there's no actual CD in there. But there might be!

Anyone know how to fix this??

Thanks in advance!

Tony

I've heard that this is fairly common where CDs get jammed. The dealer replaces the unit and sends it out to some repair shop and that shop send you your CD.

If you don't have a warranty, you could probably remove the unit, open it up and remove the CD. That is assuming that there is a CD stuck. Otherwise, I see the CD players on Ebay often.

The audio system was rated very bad by Consumer Reports.

Was that for reliability or performance? The Premium Sound System is very impressive and I thought I would never be impressed by a factory stereo.

I can agree with that. Mine has this annoying habit of the radio locking-up. Volvo can't seem to figure it out. The replaced the ICM and it still does it. I am trying to convince them to replace the AFM.

HA! Old wins! Except 2 of my bulbs behind the numbers are out and the dealer will only change the whole thing. $600.

If you want to pit the older generation S/V40 reliability against the newer generation, I got some stories to tell about my 2002 S40. I swore I would never buy another Volvo as long as I lived and if I ever walked into a showroom and started looking, the salesman was under orders to bounce my a** out onto the curb. That is until my S40 got totaled and I walked away without so much as an aching back.

I looked hard at replacing the '02 S40 with an '04 V40 but after I drove the V50 T5, the decision was made. Volvo is for life and I can put up with a few annoyances for it.

Ok the stereo in my S40 was superior in some ways, but then again it was made by Alpine, MB Quart and Polk Audio.

I had the same problem, I pulled the fuse that powers the deck , reinserted it and it ejected the cd. BEFORE YOU DO THIS make sure you have the security code for the radio or it wont work after you un-power it. (anti-theft)

Do I need to see a dealer for the security code?

Mine just did the same thing today when I got to work, stuck at Ejecting CD. When I went out to the car later, the CD was out. It seems to be working fine again.

Cool Ejection

Same problem with mine, all i did was remove the black outer casing that surrounds the cd ejector and press some sort of white plastic thing inwards. Dont be afraid to scratch the disk.
