2005 S40 T5 Radio Problems: AM/FM Static
Hello,
So I have owned my 2005 S40 for a little over a year now and absolutely love it... until one day about 2.5 weeks ago I get in and the radio gets absolutely no reception and comes through the speakers as 100% static. I have seen this problem around the forums here and there and nobody knows what to do! I just took my car into an audio technician and he wasn't too familiar with Volvos and the dealer had no idea.. He told me to find out where the factory radio tuner is and how we can access the antenna, do you guys know? He mentioned trying to put an additional antenna in the trunk to see if that helps. Anybody had similar problems? The 6 Disc change and speakers sound great, its just the radio!

I have the stock Dolby Digital premium sound system with a 6 disc changer (which works). Most stations are completely static, but a couple of the stronger signals come in intermittently and then cut to straight static. Where is the antenna connection? Do you know the locations of any connections I can check?

Are you sure the picture is of the Antenna, cause when I pulled the trunk liner off all I found was the fuel tank door unlock motor!
Had a plan, to install a Isimple IPod adapter into the car but I find anywhere to splice in the standered motorolla RF addapter!
I read in the blog that the AFM is in rear deck below the rear window? dose anybody have a diagram/picture of the connectors going it to it and where cables plug into the antenna itself?

The antenna connector is non-standard. It is like a 9V battery connector. Most folks adapt a 9V battery connector (Radio Shack has them) to the modulator connector.
As for the pic above, I really can't speak for it since it isn't mine. I attached a diagram of the S40/V50 Audio components. The red highlighted shows the TMC and the yellow is the AFM. The AFM and TMC receivers have antenna inputs. If a TMC is installed, the antenna signals reach the AFM via the TMC receiver. You can see that they are located under the hat shelf in the S40 and the right rear quarter in the V50.

2005 s40 radio will not come on
Hello. We have recently purchased this car for our son and the radio wasn't working when we bought. We were told by the dealer that it just needed to be reset. When we push the power button, a picture of a volvo car comes up on the screen and then goes away. No one seems to know what this means. I've called a dealer and gave them the VIN number and the said that the car does not have a rest code and that I would have to bring it in to have them do a diagnostic test which is $149 and I'm afraid they might not even get a code from the test. Is there anyone out there that has seen this problem before or may know a solution?
