Default 2006 S-40 'Time for Scheduled maintenance' message, relay switch

I mostly love my Volvo, but call me crazy, Am I out of line here to think that Volvo of Las Vegas is ripping me off for these every 7500 scheduled maintenance services and charging me $400 for a glorified oil change?

Does anyone know how to reset the 'time for scheduled maintenance' message, or can the dealership ONLY do this for me for $400!?

I've had some problems with the power locks and windows 'relay switch' been replaced once and acting up again. I have the 2.4 engine. Thanks for any and all feedback.

Well, I was able to do it myself, and it worked. Reset the 'time for' message, after some googling: Place your left finger on the trip odometer, keep it there continuously throughout this process, turn the ignition switch to I for one second, then to II for three seconds, the I, information button will flash, let it flash ONLY three times then release your finger from the trip odometer, it should be reset. You may have to do this more than once. Yesterday, I tried this, but DIDN'T release my finger after THREE flashes and held it there for about 30 seconds, and it started to make a 'beeping' sound, and then a message came up that said 035. Good luck, if you're trying to reset your own vehicle.

This service seemed to be a rip off to me as well. I think that many of the items could be checked or done on your own if you have time. If you have the oil changed at the dealer (and refuse the 7500 mile service) your message will be reset. My wipers were really bad, and they did not replace them when I had my car in for the 7500 mile service.

$400 for a service??? I guess I should start wirking there hahahaha What else is doe to your car other than the service??? There must be something done.. Unless your vehicle is due for a major service your repair bills shouldn't be that high just for a service.

This is awesome info, I just took my 07 S40 in for the 22,500 mile service, and after supplying my own oil (oil is extremely expensive on the economy here in Germany) the service was around $200. Now that I have this info I'll do the rest of the oil changes the cheaper way.

My dealer charges $90 for the 7500 mile service. Try another dealer. Or an independent. My local Indy will do a factory service and stamp your book. Don't know if I will use him for the Volvo yet. Tom
