2010 Volvo S40 2.4 What kind of spark plugs?
I have an 2010 Volvo S40 2.4 liter non-turbo. I am at about 78k and would like to change the spark plugs in my car. I did not get that done at the 60k mark. Does anyone know what spark plugs are recommended for this car? If there is another alternative(other than factory) what are my options?

Hi, OgJapanMan...
I'm going to assume that the '10 S40 non-turbo takes the same ones as an '05...Bosch FGR6NQE0...You can get them for around $5 to $8 each...Check out a site like Rockauto, comparison-shop at Amazon, whatever local parts places are near you....Takes about an hour when you remove all the covers, hoses, ignition coils. Good luck!

I guess hose is a minsomer on my part....If I recall, I needed an 8mm socket for the 6 or 8 bolts, and a Torx 30 socket to remove the timing belt cover, I loosened the bellows on the throttle body, and there was a small hose beneath it that came loose (remember to reconnect it), and there was a wire brace on the manifold cover that you need to make sure clicks into place when you put it back (for mass airflow/intake temp sensor, I think)...If you leave it unconnected, your car will buck like a bronco.
I don't know if they make a Haynes manual for the S40's up to 2010....I bought my manual in late '05 or early '06 (#4731), and all I could get was the UK version....Great for about 90% of the things I needed (though the description for replacing the pollen filter was useless; evidently a bit different for right-hand drive vehicles...references to bonnets and boots (hood and trunk) were good for a jolly chuckle, though)
A good little investment, if you're thinking of doing more major surgery yourself down the pike...did my lower control arms and replaced a couple CV boots last week, had the manual at my side and it was a big help.
Again, lots of luck
