Cold Air Intake -01 S40 1.9T
Hey Guys,
Now that I have sorted out all my CEL's I'm ready to do some upgrading. Starting with a cold air intake system, since I can't find a kit for my year and model though it looks like I'll be fabricating one piece by piece. I'm still in the planning stages but it looks like if I pull out the driver side fender well, I can access the inner fender where the stock air box draws air. My idea is to open up a hole where I can run a larger diameter tube and place the filter in the space under the headlight inside the fender. I'll take pictures and update this as I get all the parts rounded up. The main question at this point is, do I run a new tube all the way from the turbo to the MAF sensor and then to the filter. Or do I only replace the section from the MAF to where I will be mounting the filter? Opinions?

That seems to be the concensus, I started talking to my co-worker who is a Honda Master Technician, he seems to think the stock intake tube that runs out behind the headlight is all the more cold air intake that anyone would want. After all it does draw air directly behind the headlight/turnsignal housing outside of the engine bay. I may put a different filter in the stock box but I'm not a fan of the K&N since some of the oil from the filter will undoubtedly get sucked into the engine and put a sticky film on expensive parts like the MAF sensor. Anyone aware of a high flow filter that doesn't require oil?
