Fuel pressure regulator

RE: Fuel pressure regulator
Sorry please allow me to properly introduce myself that first post was written on the way out of class so it was rushed. My name is rick as you can see from my account name. I own a 2000 S40 and have recently stumbled upon this website when searchin for a hole in my firewall to install sub-woofers. After looking around i notice that MANY S40's have starting and almost all of them around here have been related to problems with the fuel pressure regulator so I am trying to look into it but i can't find any websites that have the part specific for a volvo s40 so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: Fuel pressure regulator
Hi Rick, welcome to the forum. At the top of the S40 forum is a thread named Volvo Resouces Thread. There you will find a wealth of info. As for your specific question locating fuel pressure regulators, I checked check two of my favorite spots really quick and came up with this:
http://www.eeuroparts.com/productdet...&code=9605
http://catalog.worldpac.com/fcpgroto...sure+Regulator
The first link has the better price for this item and offers free shipping as well.

RE: Fuel pressure regulator
I just fixed this very same problem in my 2001 S40. It was the FPR as you suspect. However, when removing the rubber elbow to the vacuum line, I noticed it was split. Now was it split before I pulled on it to put the new FPR on? Or was that the problem to begin with? I don't know but might be worth looking at your car before you spend that $86. Rubber vacuum hose is ALLOT cheaper.
BTW: My local dealer had the FPR for $96 plus tax which makes the $86 look pretty good.

RE: Fuel pressure regulator
Stole this from Andy. The red circle is where the fuel line connects to the fuel pressure regulator. The FPR is the black plastic piece that is held to the end of the fuel rail by one bolt. The rubber elbow connects to the vacuum source and is just out of the picture below the FPR. As said above, this is covered with a black plastic piece.

Do you have any progress, and do you know where to buy just only the vacuum hose, not the whole fuel pressure regulator ? if it can be got easily, I want to have it replaced first.
Thanks!

I just bought a 2000 S40 and it's doing the same thing I presume, put it to the floor for a sec while cranking and it'll start up fine, but otherwise it's craaaaaaaaaaaaaaank....
Holy crap, over $200 for this stupid part? I could buy an aftermarket racing regulator for that much, tap the fuel rail, and have someone custom install it for less than that.
