How to reach MAP sensor (pictures included)
Hi,
I am trying to replace my MAP sensor on my 2000 Volvo S40, but I cannot get to it because of the barrier on top of it which is attached to each cylinder. How do I remove this barrier? Do I pull on each connector until it comes off? I dont want to do anything to damage the vehicle.
the silver bar with the black wire on top is what I want to remove. The MAP sensor is below the bar, but the bar is plugged into each cylinder

Do not take the fuel rail out as you will take the injectors out as well.It is not necessary for the removal of that sensor.Simple unplug the connector from the top and the use a wrench to take that bolt out. After all is out you just twist and pull the sensor out it will fit right out behind the rail.

Get a short 12 point socket in 10mm with 3/8 inch drive. Also a 3 or 6 inch 3/8" extension. Place the socket over the bolt then place the extension into the socket as best you can given the angle. You should have more than enough metal to metal contact between the socket and extension in order to break the bolt loose. The fuel rail can be moved a little back too. The o-rings on the fuel inectors have a little give to them.
