Default Remote key application

I finally got my Volvo in order with remotes working, had a recent incident with the dealership bumping off one of my working assigned keys so I ended up buy another remote from them BUT they did erase all keys and assign my two remotes in 1 and 2 positions.

What is the remote key application charge? about $50 and could they have programmed another FOB (used/no pins) and then put on a key that is cut to my vin?

Thanks

not sure what model you have - but most of the remote softwares are $28 and we charge .5 hour labor

That's software needed to program the remote. Prices vary by location. Some dealers charge an hour labor

That is kinda what I was thinking, but when I searched the part # it was hard to tell. Is it different for every remote?, I would think a Dealership would buy the software once and use it for all vehicles.

does not work that way - it gets downloaded through the VIDA program and into your car through the OBDII plug - Volvo collects A LOT of $$ from us having to download software packages 1 at a time believe me. The Apple Store has nothing on Volvo!

Thanks, I knew that, it did confuse me with the remote key application, I did not equate that to the software download through Vida, I thought it was separate because I had a different charge for the remotes that I thought was that, so I mixed things up on the bill.

That's what I imagine, I did get lucky and buy a brand new FOB from Ebay, the dealer was able to program it for me, it did not have any pin codes with it. I paid $20.00 for it, my second one I paid $219.00 at the dealer. I could have saved $100.00 buying one and letting them program it. Don't think I could luck out getting another brand new remote on Ebay for $20.

Some don't have the code and are read by the ignition slot. Those can be reprogrammed I believe. The ones with the code cannot though.
