not all code readers can scan/reset the chassis codes of a Volvo. You may need a dealer to help unless you have access to a VIDA DICE tool. As a quick check, look under the seats to make sure a connector didn't get disrupted.

If you do ANY DIY work at all, a clone DiCE/ VIDA tool is an excellent investment. The "srs airbag service URGENT" message pops up if there is ANY deviation from stock configuration. That could mean merely a mis-fastened plug or something deeper. DiCE/ VIDA will tell you exactly what to fix.

I had the same message that couldn't be cleared. Buying a $100 DiCE / VIDA saved me from spending $1700 to do the repair the way the dealer wanted to do it.

VIDA doesn't tell you what to fix. It reads fault codes, which point you in a direction. You can also clear codes, which isn't a fix at all unless there was indeed a connector disconnected.

The full Volvo fault codes are pretty specific, however! In my case, VIDA said that the cause for the "Urgent" message was that a LED had blown in the DIM. I dug in, and in fact there was a hole where the LED should have been. (It was the warning LED for the SRS system.)

True, but there is still fault tracing that needs to be done in most cases. I hear it all the time... "One hour labor? To plug the car in and have the computer tell you what to do?!"
