Default Brake light on after driving for a while

Hello,
I am new to this forum.

I have a 2000 Volvo S40. Yesterday, the Brake light came on on the dashboard. The brakes feel fine. I the checked fluid level and that was at the second (high) line. The pads are good. They were done about 3 months ago. Everything seems fine. It did not throw any codes. (I thought maybe an ABS sensor).

The light will turn off when the car sits for a few hours and comes back on after drivving for 30 miutes or so. The car had the vacuum pump recall done a few months ago and the brakes are fine at start up.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Brian

Fluid level is good and the float seems to be working. If the fluid was low, I would expect the light to come on in turns, hills, when accelerating, etc. Instead, it waits until warmed up (driving 30 minutes or so) and comes on. It then stays on until it cools off for a few hours.

I'm stumped.

Maybe a bad sensor.

I know that the ABS does do a test every time you move from a stop (pumps the brakes a few times). If there are any problems the light will come on. It could be a stuck caliper. A bad sensor or worst case the ABS unit may be failing. Personally I would check the calipers myself to see if the piston moves freely. If one does not I would replace the caliper on both sides (both front or both back). If it is not the caliper then I would go to a garage to have it checked.
