No fuel from pump or at pump in tank
I have a 2002 Volvo S60 and I am not getting fuel to the fuel rail. Replaced the pump and pump seems to be running fine but still no fuel. Started to remove the pump and I noticed there is no fuel in the tank at the pump side of the tank. Just a tiny bit at the very bottom which leads me to believe that the float on the pump is not seeing any fuel. We were smelling gas in the driveway or parking lot right after driving the car for a month or so prior to the car not running.

Well, this one seems to have stumped everybody. Back to basics of pumping. No fuel on the pump side made me think the pump needed to be primed to get the fuel flowing from the pickup at the sender. Poured a couple of gallons directly into the pump and things just took off. Might be another issue lurking, but so far things have kept working.

Getting the pump in and out is a whole lot more specific than what you find on youtube by the by. Everybody seems to dwell on getting the hose and wires back and forth to the sender side from the pump, but looking back, that is a minor detail and there are a bunch of other more specific details you need to get this done without problems.
