S60 01 How to change oil
Hi all,
Just assuming servicing responsibilities on this vehicle.
Searched and could not find the answer to this simple question.
What are the steps to change oil and oil filter? I know when I jack it up I will find the drain plug, but I am not sure where the filter (cartridge I believe) is.
Also, I see a few stickys but is there a central location for answers to commonly asked questions that a newbie should go to?
Thanks

Ouch! it's hurt. I hope you did not mean this Volvo forum is suck, eBay stores are better. I thought forum is a place to share knowledge and help each other no matter what :-)

Hello, is the 86 mm the same size for a 2013 S60 T5 ? Also I bought a fluid evacuator last year and it is so much better than climbing under the car, especially in the NE winter. The key is to get the engine oil warm. 80 seconds and the evacuator pulls all the oil out in a nice neat container. I recommend one. Thanks for the help, Kid

Sorry but I am not sure.
I have seen somewhere? another Volvo oil filter wrench that did have a lot less flutes and quite likely is for more recent model Volvo's.
Does the evacuator go down the oil dipstick. i.e. plastic tube?
My only thought about those is, will the buildup of fine debris / metal particles get adequately removed from the oil pan that way?
The drain plugs also attract metal filings magnetically. Otherwise they must make it a very convenient and less messy job.

DiffLock,
Yes the tube goes through the dipstick tube. I usually run the engine until hot, and think most fine metal would is suspended in the oil. After break in any large filings would be an indicator of a serious problem, I would think.
Actually there is a large nut on top of the filter housing that I think is a 36 or 37 mm.
I'm sure someone will spot this post and reply. So far I love this car. It is very comfortable, stylish and fun to drive. Am concerned about the reliability but time will tell. Thanks for the reply. Kid
