Default Vibration at 40 kmph and then subsides. is it the drive shaft or the exhaust????????

Hey, i accidently hit the underside of my s60 2002 on a speed bump. which damged my exhaust. the exhaust started touching the drive shaft and made a lot of noise. the mechanic strightened the exhaust up temporarily. With this i got rid of the noise but now the car vibrates. This vibration happens between 40 - 60 kmph and then dies down to neglegible vibration as i speed up. iam not sure weather it is the drive shaft or the exhaust or something else. Is it safe to drive the car in this condition because i have to wait a good couple of weeks before the parts arrive.......any suggestions will be helpful!

Get the alignment and tire balance checked.

What do you mean drive shaft? Is this an AWD? That is most likely the cause of your vibration then, and driving it in that condition may well cause more damage than you currently have.

Vibrations are very harmfully to bearings and seals. Find it fix it.

Does the vibration feel like it is coming from the front or the rear of the car?

With an s60 this age. So many of the rubber mounts; engine mounts, transmission mount, control arms, even the sub-frame bushings can begin to fail. All depends on mileage etc but all of the above if your vibration is coming from the front end.

It is also possible you could have damaged your shocks/struts. Maybe did something to the sway bar or the end links. Very hard to say.
