Windshield Wiper replacement

Windshield Wiper replacement
I need to replace my windshield wipers but apparently it is a different configuration than i have ever changed before. Every other vehicle I have owned had either a hook or push the ball through the hole method. I went to an auto parts store and he said it must be a specialty thing that i have to order through Volvo. Is this true or did he just want to be rid of me? Kind of humbling going to do something as simple as replacing my blades and being stumped like this! Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the same problem, I figured they were just like every other kind. There are tabs on oth sidesnear the end of the wiper arm. Hold both tabs in and the part of the blade that faces the driver's door kind of slides out first, then the blade slides out.Once you do it, it makes sense.
I went to the dealer for a replacement set. They might be a little more, but at least you know they will fit right.

I bought replacement refills from Bosch. The old ones I distroyed taking them out (literally). To insert the refills, on the blade holder, if you will, still attached, i opened the two tabs on the very end, and just fed the refills right in. Then with plyers I squezed the two tabs shut, and I was done. The first one took me about 15 minutes. The second one no more than 1.

RE: Windshield Wiper replacement
I just went and bought some rain x blades myself, I couldn't really figure it out. So I gave up and put the old ones back on for now. The way they come, the wiper doesnt fit on the j-hook. There is some sort of adapter piece that it came with, but I was only expecting to spend a feew seconds with it; I had someplace to be.
What is it that you did to make it work?

'05s and newer use the newer style blade that you cannot refill. I found a good price on them at:
http://vparts.dealerfit.com/store/prod126_24239.php
About the same price as aftermarket, but at least I know they will last2-3 years.
