Thanks Beltran for your reply. What did you have to give for your S-60. My daughter is 16 in May also. Mark

I average 20.5, a little over 300 miles on a tank when filled. On a trip from Philly to Maryland and back got up to 21.8 at 70-80 mph on highway. And I dont ring it out often.

I got a 2005 S60 in December of '04. One thing I do is keep track of milage - learned it on my first car, a good indicator of potential engine problems if the milage drops. The data is below (e-mail me if you need a copy of the Excel spreadsheet - trond@peersen.net). The average is 26.89 mpg - that is a mix of city and highway (probalby 70% city).

18 g. tank
Total gas cost $1,398.29
Average gas cost $2.178
Average gas mileage 26.89

Mine is a 2002 non turbo. The best I've gotten on the highway is 32mpg. In the city it's around 22 - 24. Overall average is around 26 which is right in line with what trondp is getting.

Average MPG at 65mph, measured during the course of an hour, on a 52 mile commute, in moderate traffic, on cruise control, with occassional increases and decreases (about 25 total) to the Cruise Controls speed.
Average = 26mpg

My wife drives a 2001 S60 2.4T, she gets (hand calculated) 22-23 in town and 28-29 on the highway @ 75+. I am running premium, haven't tested it on 87 octane. The manual says 91 octane. Any input on using lower octanes? Also, 100% Chevron fuel.
Thanks-
Tim

It is funny cause my birthday is may 12th yet I'm going to be 23; I am looking for my first car though, haha.

Anyhow, I am really interested in this 2002 S60 my local dealer had and I was wondering about the MPG before I saw this post. My question is about these stats being based of a manuel or an automatic. I was looking at the automatic and so now I'm curious about which is my best bet, Manny or auto? If anyone has any feed back for best MPG between a auto or manny please let me know.

thank you for everyone's time

My old "01 S60 got 23-24 city. 27-29 highway with speeds averaging 75. It was a 2.4T. Driving habits greatly influence mileage.

My wife drives a 2001 S60. She gets about 29 highway and about 22 or 23 in city. Great on fuel in my opinion considering I drive a 4.7L Grand Cherokee HO V8 sucking down the fuel at about 18 mpg.

Last 6 tankfuls

28.5
29
30.8
33.07
31.67
30.8

The 33.07 MPG was 100% highway from Detroit to Indianapolis and back.
Seafoamed the inners, new air filter, German Castrol 0/30, and put copper plugs on. 87 octane. this is on a NA S60 02.

I have an 05 S60 2.5t and average 25.5 consistently in mixed driving.

I run 87 and 89 mostly, but will occasionally run premium. When I run the 92, there is no drop off in mileage.

I have an '02 S60 non-turbo and on the highway at 70-75 MPH I have typically gotten around 34 MPG. Around town it drops down to about 28 MPG, but that's still pretty good for a fairly heavy car.

Also own an '88 740 GLE that runs like a top with 180K miles on her.
