Default Dim Dashboard Lights and AC Issues

Ok,

I need to have a general idea of what might be wrong with my 2001 Volvo S60 before I take it to the shop.

For the past couple of months the AC/heater has decided it only wants to work when it feels like it. By work, I mean completely, and not just emitting cold/hot air. It will not blow whatsoever, for the lack of a better way of explaining the situation. I cannot determine the pattern behind it but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In the past couple of weeks, the issue has started to reoccur more and more often; sometimes it won't work for days. For the record, all the lights are on, suggesting the AC/heater should be working but no air is coming out whatsoever.

Meanwhile, another problem has started to appear. Once for half a day about a week ago, and then again three days ago, which it hasn't resolved itself yet.
In addition to the AC/heater, now the dashboard lights are extremely dim. The CHECK ENGINE light is on and the turning signals lights are flashing when in use, but everything else is extremely low. In addition, all the lights on my stereo and AC/heater are now out as well. Even the little light indicators for the D, R, P, etc. are not on.

I hope I am making sense here with trying to explain the pickle that I am in. I appreciate all the suggestions and help.

nothing that a good old fashion exorcism coundn't cure

seriously though - it sounds like your HVAC blower motor and/or resistor is on the blink - kind of common on for the age of your car.

as far as the lights - might be your dash rheostat - but it almost sounds like a ground issue. DIM's issues are common on your car - but usually it just displays a SRS light when its failing.

So, I took it to a Volvo specialist and they told me that my climate control module is completely out and rebuilding it will cost me around $750. Is this possible?
