Handbrake adjust

Handbrake adjust
Hi all,
Simple question - how do I get slack out of the handbrake lever. I had to WD-40 and whack the right rear rotor to loosen the shoes after sitting for 3 weeks. Any way to prevent this - short of having someone move it? So getting the slack out is the problem now.
Thanks,
Mike

RE: Handbrake adjust
Adjustment is done at the handbrake lever.
Remove thepanel over the handbrake lever by opening the lid on the centre console locker and press in the catch in the panel with a screwdriver. Lift the panel upwards and forwards to expose the adjustment screw.
Put the handbrake lever in its lowest position and turn the adjustment screw so you achieve full braking effect between the second and fifth notches. Check that the wheels rotate freely when the brake is released.
To prevent the shoes seizing onto the drums park on a level surface when you leave the car for any long period and do not apply the parking brake.
