Default Maintenance package - worth it?

I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I have a 2012 Volvo S60 with about 38k miles on it. Up to now, the regular maintenance visits were covered free of charge. It's time for the next scheduled maintenance (due at 37.5k miles) which is about $580 at the dealership. I'm contemplating getting the maintenance package for $2,654 which covers the cost of the next 9 maintenance visits. Is it worth it?

Thanks!

$580 is a ripoff. That probably includes something that is not part of the warranty service, which is just an oil change, air filter and brake flush.

How often do you have to go to scheduled maintenance based on driving schedule?
(My mother has never brought in her Volvo and we have had it for about years now, I do all electrical fixes and if something seems easy enough I will do it myself. Seems pretty simple for maintenance if all they do is check fluid levels and plug it into VADIS)

Get the maintenance package with wear coverage. I don't know where you live but living in LA rear brake pads average about 22-25k on those S60s and you don't want to be paying for those out of pocket. Specially when the rotors usually go at about 50k

Good idea. However, maintenance package with wear coverage is much more expensive. Here (Washington, DC area), cost is $1500+ for a package that covers only two maintenance visits. So, unless the brakes/other wearable items are about to wear out in the next two visits, I may be out of luck. I do not believe there is a maintenance package that covers wear and tear and also includes a higher # of scheduled maintenance visits. Incidentally, the price of the 9 maintenance visits I mentioned in my original post went up to $3250 from $2600!

Well there is the safe and secure with wear that goes all the way up to 5 years 60k. Are you sure you can't get that?

I just googled it. If you are referring to the following:

Volvo Safe + Secure Coverage Plan

The maintenance included covers the following services:

"The maintenance program covers the first six scheduled services at no charge. The service schedule is 7,500, 15,000, 22,500, 30,000, 37,500 and 45,000 miles."

It also includes 5 yrs of warranty (from original in-service date I assume).

My car is due for its 37,500 maintenance and it's also certified (runs out in 2018) so it looks like I would be paying for quite a bit of services/coverage that I cannot use?

Thoughts?

It is hard to say without the detail of what is included. The pricing indicated works out to $295 per maintenance visit.

Look at the manual for the next 9 visits. Does it include the coolant flush, brake fluid change, spark plugs, filters, trans fluid?

If it is an "inspection" and regular oil changes, save your money. Likewise if it only includes fluid level checks and top off versus exchange or renew.

I ended up shopping around. In the DC area, they were charging between $460 - $500. I found a Volvo dealer in PA, about a 1.5 hour drive, that did the job for $240 Thank you everyone for your feedback!

averages $300. But what does it really cover.
Only side that I see is with inflation, you might do better than as you go.

the 37500 mi here is $415.

some of the others are much more.
