P0090 Code??? Fuel Regulator (pressure code)
Car isa 2004 S60R 2.5T unmodified with an Automatic transmission.
Ok I am at a loss. My wifes car just recently started haveing some issues. I gota Service Engine light and pulled the code and it is a P0090 code. I also got a few codes for missfires in cyl.4 and 5. I checked the gas capand changed the fuel filter. Seemed to fix some of the issue not all though. When I get on it and demand more fuel she stutters now as if its not getting enough gas and timing is being cut when I demand more gas under boost or something. It will drive fine if i ease into the pedal to increase speed, but if i step on it to get her moving in and out of traffic she cuts hard and bucks.Has anyone ever had this issue before? Is it the fuel pump or fuel regulator on the fuel rail? Big difference in price between the two but just curious if anyone on here has run into this before or not.
Thanks guys

IMPORTANT RECALL NOTICE
May 25, 2007
To all Volvo Retailers and Employees:
RE: Recall 181, certain model year(s) 2003-2004 S60/V70 Fuel Pressure Sensors
Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (Volvo) has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration and Transport Canada that we will perform a Voluntary Safety Recall to replace
the Fuel Pressure Sensor on certain model year 2003 and 2004 Volvo S60/V70 vehicles.
The fuel pressure sensor (FPS) located on the left side of the fuel rail, may at times transmit
incorrect signals regarding the fuel pressure to the Engine Control Module (ECM). If the signal is
outside of the pre-programmed allowable limits, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set
and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will come on.
Engine misfire may occur during driving that in turn can reduce the engine torque, in the worst
case scenario the engine may stall without warning.
GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION:
As required, Volvo has notified the United States Government that it is preparing to launch
Recall 181.
CUSTOMER INQUIRIES:
As you know, the current state of media and Internet technology can bring immediate attention
and public awareness of Recalls. We are sending you this information before formally launching
this Recall so that you will be prepared for customer inquiries. If you are unable to answer a
customer's inquiry direct them to: Volvo Customer Care 800-458-1552
RECALL DESCRIPTION:
• 2003 and 2004 Volvo S60 and V70 vehicles with the following engines (codes):
o B5244S (61), B5244S6 (64), B5254T4 (52) B5254T2 (59)

RE: P0090 Code??? Fuel Regulator (pressure code)
Well an update. I tapped the sensor on the rail and it seems to work fine now after I changed the filter, plugs, coils, and gas cap for seal. I guess it was bad gas. Here is something interesting though. I called my Volvo dealer to ask about the recall. He said it had been complied with previously. So they said even though the symptoms are the same I will have to pay for it to get fixed this time. At 90.00 per hour to trouble shoot they said they will find the problem (more then likely come to the same conclusion I did).
