Default S60 Service lights

I have had to do that once, right after I purchased my S40,2000.

I am not sure where you live, but I live in Iowa and you can go to Autozone and they can tell you the fault and reset it for free.

Push and hold the trip reset button before you turn the key to the run position, with thte button held down turn the key to the run position and wait 'till the service light flashes. When it does release the button and turn the key off. That is it.

I wonder how much difference there is between US and European models.
I have an s60 2.0 T SE (European - UK actually) model, and it doesn't have a service light that flashes. It does however have a message on the information display which says "service required". I have followed your advice and pushed the trip reset (thats the one at 7 o'clock to the speedo isn't it) and turned the key .........
Anyway - it didn't clear it.
Anyone out there from the UK with any info ???

On the S60's that dont have the service light and have the message they are more of a pain to get to reset. You do the same thing but make sure all the doors are closed and when you are holding the trip button in watch for the little traingle between the speedo and the tach to flash 4to5 times when you release and hear a beep it is reset. It might take you 3 or 4 times to get it to reset. They are more of a pain to get to reset.I hate those ones sometimes they **** me off.Good luck.

Tech,
I tried your suggestion - it didn't work, and I tried lots of times.
My trip actually has two trips T1 and T2 which I can alternate between by pushing the trip button momentarily.
Does it matter which trip I should be showing when doing the operation outlined above.
All I succeded in doing before was resetting the trip.
when Burnt Out says above to turn to the run position - is that III or II on the switch or should the engine running.
I didn't get any triangle it - I assume you mean the yellow tiangle with the ! in it.
trying a combination of pushes and turns I did get the info panel to say 045 but it then went back to the service required message.
please be explicit - to the point of bulleting instructions. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would benefit.

One more point, I rang the dealer and he said it would cost £30 + vat because it would need to be connected to their computer to reset it.

Sorry i may have left something out. You start by turning it to the II position. Then push the trip button as soon as the trip button is pushed in turn to III position. Then watch for the yellow ! to flash 3 to 4 times then release. Then you should hear a beep turn the ignition off then start the car to see if it is reset.Ive had more luck for it to work faster on t2.I hope it is more clear now.Let me know how you make out.

Sorry Tech, it just didn't work. I spoke to the dealer this morning - he said models after 2000 can only be reset by the dealer using their "£50,000" diagnostics kit. Of course he might say that anyway - he wants £35 of me to do it.

While I was talking to him I mentioned about the daylight running lights and that I wanted them off - he said I can do that myself, "look at the section in the manual under lights", well I have and it doesn't mention how to disable daytime running.
Do you have any idea.

Sorry i dont know how to reset the day time running lights but i will see if i can find out for you. I know the service light can be reset with out their computer but i wish i was there to help you. Also some times you can find a coupon from the dealer for a cheap oil change and have them do it and make them reset the service light to.Sorry i couldn't help you more. Some times its easier to do it then tell some one how to.
