That's $270 ... And again, that's double markup on parts, an exorbitant labor rate, and a high labor time.
It doesn't matter how long the job takes. It pays 1.5 hours. A timing belt that takes me 25 minutes pays 2.5 hours. A PCV breather hose that takes me 10 minutes pays an hour. That's how it works at shops. That price is normal. The dealer isn't going to source cheaper fluid for you. You also cannot reset fluid counters in your garage without VIDA. You can always do a job yourself for less- automotive or otherwise.

Wow. All I can say is I feel bad for you.

That price is just wrong. I understand the overhead at a business but the trans flush, the easy job that it is, the much lower cost of product the dealer pays just does not warrant the price.

I went to an independent volvo / saab shop to have my DIM re-programmed. They said they do it as a courtesy and charge $10 because it takes the labor to hook up a connector.

Guess who I will go to if I have a job I can't do? The dealer that wanted $100 to hook up that connector or the independent?

They showed me the fluid and it was black, I don't think its ever been changed and I currently have 76k miles on it. Im thinking this is a fairly inexpensive thing to have done for such an important part on the car like the transmission. I probably could have shopped around and got it done cheaper but knowing a Volvo tech did it was worth the premium.

That price is perfectly in line when using Volvo fluid. The dealer is not going to go to Toyota to get their version for you.
