Volvo s60 t5 modifications
Hello, im thinking about buying a new car, and I've been looking at the s60 t5 2005. What are the pros and cons of that car??
Also, since the car is turbocharged, what types of mods can be done to increase hp in an relatively easy way? I want the manual model, how can it take?
I've driven a Volvo once, and it was the type of car, and I must say I fell in love with it, that's why I'm curious if I should go for it

the biggest complaints are parts like the coil packs, timing belt maintenance, ETM (electronic throttle body) and the ABS modules and some concerns about the AC compressor clutches or auto transmission but nothing out of the ordinary for most 10 year old cars. If you know the maintenance history then its a good start.
Boosting HP on a turbo model is pretty easy - but cost wise has the law of diminishing return. For starters you can simply get a new ECU tune to add 50 HP which will run 500 to 750. Next you can add a new 3" down pipe for a similar amount. After that you can upgrade the turbo's volume capacity (via a rebuild or swap out) which can be another 300-500. Then you can upgrade your injectors, bigger cat/exhaust and add various plumbing bits that help with responsiveness. I'd be careful planning more than 300 HP into an auto transmission but the manuals are solid well beyond 400. If you go crazy on HP then you need to start considering things like adding a limited slip differential (typically only available for the manual transmissions) firm up the suspension, upgrade tires/wheels/brakes...
