What kind of Spark Plugs to get...
I have a 2005 S60 with 103,000 miles. It's well taken care of and in great shape. I'm getting a little sputtering and hesitation when starting it up. At 103,000 miles, i'm about due for plugs anyway. I'm going to throw on a new fuel filter as well. Hopefully, that will solve my problem, but, it's good maintenance anyway. I drive hard, fast and a true driving enthusiast. A well known tire/repair chain in St. Louis told me that Volvo recommends a double tipped platinum plug. Not that I dont trust them....but, I want to hear from real Volvo enthusiast. Money is no object. I'll buy the best plugs I can. What brand, what kind, so on and so forth, etc. Thanks for the help.

Iridium plugs seem to be the performance choice. Several companies make them, so you have choices. I've been using Iridium NGK's for several years without any problems.
Bosch makes two and four tipped platinum plugs, but I'm not sure how they would fare in this car. They can't be gapped, so how would you ensure optimum performance? If they are all too far, or too close, I suspect there would be problems.

Spark Plugs for an S60
Whats a guy to do?? One person loves the Iridium NGK and another one had problems. When I was at an Auto Zone today, I asked the counter guy about plugs and he highly reccomended the Iridium NGK as well. What were the original plugs coming out of the factory on the 2005 S60 T-5?

IIRC the OEM plugs for the '05+ T5's are Denso.
I know Volvo uses NGK and Bosch as OEM applications. I don't think NGK officially made the longer style for Volvo but they sell them as aftermarket.
Ikey had good success in his '02 with the shorter style NGK plugs. My '05 R with longer plugs did not like them one bit.
I know a few guys on SS that run NGK Iridium plugs on there R's with out any issues.
Wouldn't hurt to tell the parts guy that they are known to have misfire issues in these cars to see if you can return them if you do as well. If they work, you got your self a solid plug.
Also in '05 I think the P2 T5 cars came with the longer style plugs. Double check that before you buy any plugs. A lot of places get mixed up and insist that you'll have the proper one and in fact you don't.
