Default Xenon's stay on all the time

I have a new 2013 S60 T5 AWD with Xenon's and the problem is they stay on all the time during the daylight when the switch is set in the "auto" position. I don't want them to burn out early so is there a way to have them off during the day and utilize the "so called" "Tunnel detection" feature that turns them on when it gets dark out or goes thru a tunnel?

It seems to be tied to the daytime running lights setting which I believe if I could turn off would solve this issue HOWEVER the Light Settings area of the menu screen the option does not come up like it describes in the book...

Daytime running lights can be deactivated in

the MY CAR menu system under Setting>>>
Car settings>>>> Light settings>> Daytime Running Lights

I had the same problem (2013 S60) and found that there is a menu item missing to turn off day time running lights. I took it to the Volvo dealer and they updated the software (missing menu item is now there) and now the Xenon's come on at night and stay off during the day. Tunnel detection works also.

PS Installed Software 64936 ISP 1.00
1 31288018 LOW-BEAM 4 APP

Hello,

My menu is missing too, and would like to have it activated like you did. Are there any lights that come on when you shut off DRL's? I am hoping the LED indicators or yellow indicators stay on, I want something on, just not the Xenons.

Thanks

Default Fixed *kind of*

Having the dealer update the software worked. Xenon's turn on automatically and the DRL menu is there so I'm happy. Only glitch is the DRL menu item does nothing....Meaning I don't have Daytime running lights unless I turn on my lights manually. It's interesting no one at my Volvo dealers in Washington seem to know about this issue with the tunnel detection.

No unfortunately the DTR options doesn't do anything now...but I like having the automatic lights turn on at dusk better.

Default SW upgrade for >$240+

Sorry to bring back this old thread, new member here. I also had this issue on my 2013 S60, at my last visit to the dealer for maintenance I told them about this Technical Service Bulletin software upgrade for the missing menu DRL item. Their answer was: “sure we’ll do it for $240+ ”
Give me a break! My car is still under warranty and they still want to charge such outrageous amount for what is 5 min of work.

So my question to you guys is, where you charged for the SW upgrade?

Thanks,

Chris.

There was no charge, if possible I would look for another dealer, you might also contact Volvo USA and see what they think of the $240 fee for their "Free Software Update" policy.

The free software update is different. It does not include an update for all modules or software to repair things.

I'm not familiar with a bulletin for this, but if you're under warranty, it should be free.

No charge here either. Just for your planning purpose the update takes about an hour, not 5 minutes.

Found the bulletin. That should be under warranty.
