Default *1998 S70 T5M New Purchase* Build thread/dont know what im doing with this so help ha

hello all.. its been a year since i last posted about my 1995 855 m56. since then i have totaled that hitting a deer and bought a 1986 245. My buddy blew up the 240 so its in my garage getting a 5.3LS. I needed a daily so i bought this 1998 S70t5m off craigslist. This is my First 70 series, 1st turbo car i actually want to work on and my 4th Volvo. These are the specs
250xxx on the body
~60k on rebuild
obx turbo back exhaust
turbo x MBC
ARD green tune
SNABB intake
freshish 18t
"blue" injectors
ipd boost gauge
Stage 2 clutch
timing belt and water pump done ~20k ago
pcv done ~20k ago

As far as i can tell it needs...
suspension refresh
small oil leak on front side of engine (oil cooler lines?)
secondary air pump or delete
abs module
traction control does not work

If anyone has some input on these cars as to what i should look for or be careful of it would be much appreciated... I dont know what im doing with turbos yet. Any and all input is much appreciated. Photos coming soon. This will be my build thread.

I don't have any advice for you, but I do have a 1998 S70 T5M. Mine is a fixer upper, and I have a thread on that. Bone stock as far as I know (which isn't very far). The main thing I don't like about the turbo is that it's so far from the MAF to the intake. If anything in that plumbing leaks you'll have to find it. The oil cooler lines seem to ooze, but mine are not too bad. I have had the cam seals walk out on mine, and if it's the intake seal at the distributor it'll wet the clutch. Two of my 5 speed cars did the same thing. One of them, the distributor caught on fire internally before I bought it. Fortunately there's nothing electronic in there. Most glaring bad component on the 1998 S70 I guess is the interior plastics on the buttons. I've had 3 1998 S70's.

I see you've had an 850, so you already know about being ready to replace the heater core once in a while. All my A/C evaporators leaked too.

You can put stock springs/strut/shocks/bushings/mounts/control arms on or you can go coilover/control arms/bushings. Get only Volvo or OE bushings/control arms/mounts/etc.

Oil cooler hoses DIY rebuild. I like the Parker PushLoc hose. Oil leak can also be from the PCV system, you'll have to check.

You can delete SAS via software or hardware. In your cause, hardware probably better since you probably want to keep your tuned ECU.

ABS module is probably bad, you can take it apart and resolder or send it out.

Little update. It's been forever since I've logged in here but I'm going to start doing regular updates.
Replaced oil cooler of rings and clips at the radiator. Put hose clamp around the whole clip for some added security.
Cars running great now with the stock ecu and the boost dialed back to 18psi. I found a small Crack in the OBX downpipe. Pretty disappointed with the overall quality of the exhaust. I replaced a lot of vacuum lines and ordered DO88 red silicone coolant lines. I have blue IPD silicone at the moment but they are my roommates and we are almost done putting his car back together so time to get my own. I am thinking about picking up a v70r interior this weekend and doing the swap. Probably going to pull the trigger. Pics to come tomorrow probably. I just got the turbo and most of the hoses back in my roommates car tonight with another friend. We swapped his t5m ecu out of his v70r and put the useless ARD "tune" back in. If you can even call it a tune. I'll be starting a thread on his cars this weekend most likely. What a mess.

I got a little resistor to solder into the ecu wires for my car to trick it into thinking the secondary air is working. 15 cent part and 15 min of soldering so I can't complain. There is already a write up but I will do a mini one in this thread. Another HUGE thing I did on my car was the delta links. Wow what a pain. I should do a write up on that but I'm an idiot and didn't take anyour photos. Let's just say an acetylene torch and ratchet straps came to the rescue. Big time.
