Welcome to the forum
I moved your post to the s70's section although for your question an 850 is close. Also tacking it onto a two year old post isn't the best. Now you have a topic all your own
How about telling us what it used to ride like and were the springs worn out or did one break ??
What is the part number of the springs you installed ??
Any chance you were given springs for a wagon ?? They are a bit stiffer.
Did you do springs and shocks at the same time ??
Did it ride like a truck before or after you started replacing the shocks ??
What is the part number of the shocks you installed ??

Springs 1998 S70
Thanks for responding quickly. I'm new here and am having a little difficulty navigating. I have replaced front and rear struts springs and shocks. Spent a lot of $. And it rides way too hard on rough roads.
I'm sorry I threw away the original springs. I ordered the rear springs from Volvo Houston along with Sachs shocks. They exchanged the shocks hoping for a difference in the ride but no luck. So I'm feeling every bump in the road.

Why did you change them and did you do front and rear at the same time ??

They were not broken. The spring just feels very stiff. I changed them for a no good reason. I thought it would raise the car up a bit. The first set of springs were from IPD I sent them back after a month or two. Too stiff. Got the second set from Volvo Houston. I did front and rear at the same time. The front are stiff also but the back ones are the ones you feel in the seat of your pants. As far as the part #s I would have to call Volvo and find out. The car handled great on smooth roads, but in NYC it's pretty bad. I was thinking of getting some from the junk yard. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
