98 S70 non-turbo won't start
My car won't start,it ran great before I was going to phx and after getting off the freeway it died at a stop light,it restarted a couple times then died right a way after each time.I had it diagnosed the guy told me it needed a Mass Air Flow Sensor and a Throttle Position sensor.I had him install both also a new air filter but it turns over but still won't start.I smell gas under the hood so I guess the fuel pump is working,I'm know nothing about cars any suggestions?I can't afford the shop prices or dealer prices..
Thank you.

try pulling a plug to see if its wet. Its possible you've wetted down the cylinders with gas so there's no oil on the compression ring (google lawn mower syndrome for some postings). What gave the diagnosis of a bad MAF or TPS - did your guy pull OBD2 codes and if so, can you post the codes up? It remains to be seen what the original problem truly was - ie an ignition problem (coil/wires/plugs/rotor/cap etc) or a fuel delivery problem - MAF, TPS, fuel pressure regulator or a ECU component - temp sensor, another sensor. Often these cars cascade a set of codes so its rare that both the TPS and MAF would go bad - but it is possible for a fuel pressure problem to trigger a MAF code. First, see if you can find out what check engine codes are stored. Then try squirting a small amount of oil in the cylinders to help build compression (like you are doing a wet compression test). Crank and if no start, measure the fuel pressure at the rail. If that's good, then check for spark etc.

Chances are good you have fuel then but it's time to check for spark coming from the coil in case you have a bad cap or rotor and you have spark but it's not getting to the plugs.
If no spark from the coil it's time to check things like the cam position sensor.
If you have room on a CC and you're located in the US you can see about getting a scan tool loaner from Oreilly, autozone ... Might be a code in the computer that would help you with diag.

Have you already checked spark from the coil to make sure you don't have any ??
You might want to test the cam sensor first. Testing is free compared to just replacing parts.
Even though he cleared the computer if you've been cranking it there might be something that's re-set into the computer for a failure code. Again it would be a freebee as you'd get a full refund on their "loaner" code reader tool.
Might want to add a location to you profile so it pops up. Someone might have or know of a source for some good used stuff in your area.
