am radio not working, fm is fine
so the am on my factory radio unit (1998 s70 glt) is not working at all, it's not picking up any channels, not static, nothing.
the fm, cd, tape work fine.
naturally i assume that there's simply a cable loose in the back of the radio unit.
but could someone please give me a quick guide for removing the unit (i know the handles pop out), what to look for and then how to reinstall it and the reprogramming process?
thanks a lot.

Maybe all the am radio stations have gone out since the economy is so bad. Not sure, I haven't check in like 24 years. Maybe mine is out too.
BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE UNIT, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SECURITY CODE TO RESET IT ONCE YOU RE-INSTALL IT.
It is likely the head unit is bad. To get the head unit out you release the two clips on the sides, pull the shifter into N or D (or lower), pull on the clips and the unit will slide out. If you disconnect the connectors on the back of the unit, you will trip the security system in it and will not be able to use it until you enter the 4 digit code. If you do not have the code, you can get it from the nearest stealership.
You can get another head unit from a junk yard if you really need to hear something on AM.
