Default Broken Hood Release

My hood release lever finally broke off today. My problem now is that I need to open the hood to add coolant, and I can't. All I have is the broken hood release cable, and the actual cable has disappeared inside of the black wire/tubing.
I know the whole cable needs to be replaced, but I need to know how to get the hood opened. I replaced my heater core yesterday and the car needs coolant.
Is there ANY way at all to get the hood opened? I heard about removing the turn signal/marker light assembly, but from what I've seen, you need to open the hood to remove that. Is there another way to release the hood?

I looked over this thread, too... I'll have to try to get that light out, because I don't see any other way that it'll be done.

All it is is a spring that hooks on the turn signal light and then just fits in a groove on the headlights. So it is not hooked to the headlights. Stick something thin and long like a screwdriver and just unhook it from the groove. Might take a little bit of maneuvering.
