Ignition: No signal lights, headlights, tail lights
1998 S70, 60,000 miles, original owner. Turn key to start motor, gear shift is locked in Park position, no lights. Can get gear into run position by using gear release button. Start motor. Still no lights. I can manually correct this by turning the motor off. Release gear using release button, put gear into neutral. Now start the motor. All lights work. Very interesting, but I would like to hear from anyone who has had this problem. Thanks

RE: Ignition: No signal lights, headlights, tail lights
I have a similar problem and posted in the 900 forum. I have a 1997 960. Sometimes but not always when I start the car I can't get it into drive without pressing the shift lock button and then shifting. But then the lights, turn signals and windows won't work.
Did you get this fixed? What was the problem...

I also have a 1997 960 with the identicalproblem.
Other websearches indicate the problem could be the microswitch in shifter assembly.

But I haven't had the confidence to try to tear it apart to see if I could fix it myself.
Has anyone else performed this repair or taken their car in to get it fixed.
Curious how much it would cost.
